An American Raw Vegan in Paris
I went to Arpege.
http://www.alain-passard.com/FR/ouverture_flash.htm
It is a very important restaurant ( for vegetables too that is!)
They grow their own on a farm too.
I was gonna get something raw.
I waited outside , for a while to open,
it's close to my hotel on the Green line Rue de Bac

Nice neighborhood huh ?
with Museum Rodin

I heard they only have prix fixes which would be a problem with my special diet but exceptions are always made..for girls like me..!!!!
Just kidding!!
No,
no everybody is SOOO nice to me in Paris ,
why wouldn't they!?
but I walked around and got distracted, it is a very nice neighborhood..
and I wasn't hungry I decided..
and checked my veggie notes and wanted to see the 100% Strict Vegan chinese place called Green Garden
so many have told me about

I was not hungry either for that either, you see I would only eat a raw dish and my choices are limited to salad anyways
I walked around the chinese section at Port D'Ivry Metro..I found chinese market with frozen Durians, so yes, if you were wondering..
So I went to Pere Lachais Cemetary.
Before I went I had a huge vase of hot water and tea ...and all it was was fresh mint leaves in a cup and
then the guy put water in it and then stuck a cappuccino foamer/heater and it got so hot and it was really good. Like 2.50 eu..
I really had fun.
it was good
I got lost, I really did, I got tired but I took some photos.

Jim Morrison, ahh, The minute I was in the cemetary I felt his energy, the anticipation, the chills and goosebumps, Where is it? Where..and it was very very hard to find..
I felt it..like, nervous tic in me..

I grew up with Colette's stories of adventures in Paris and Balzac too, I must have read all volumes of both.
Jim was cool, I asked him to make my friends successful and to try out raw foods.
There were so many others but it is really really hard and it is cold and you have to step over graves and it is sad being a cemetary and all. there was a cop watching Jim's grave. What a job, huh.
I went to a vegetarian Restaurant called ~Follies Grainees~ ( or something like that)
It was like this one woman's house and she took her time and made all the dishes herself.
It was all cooked grains and cooked veggie pies/pates/tarts and cheese and eggs vegetarian type stuff...
but I ordered a salad with garlic dressing and a carrot juice and a moon tea whatever that is.
Her dog put its head on my lap when I ate and looked at me with eyes and kept my legs warm..
Dogs can do that here, they can pee on cars if they want!
Not very impressive huh but to a raw foodist I was so happy, yummy..carrot juice,
Makes me miss Miami a but and my raw vegan job I will never leave. Possibly never.Maybe.
Here in Paris, my chihuahua, Diva, would love it!!
You can walk your dogs in supermarkets and they can poop anywhere and you can bring them to restaurants and on trains.
Anywasy I have a list of all the local Organic Markets this weekened Yay!!
I will check out Every day this weekend all over

I was so scared earlier
I was gonna go to the Moulin Rouge and got off at Pigalle
and I was soooo scared !!!
Sex shoppes , hookers and strip clubs and peep shows all lined up everywhere. I was very extremely uncomfortable, I don't like that stuff!
I panicked , " I need Abcesses I need Abscesses!" I begged the nearest guys who couldnt understand me, " Bastide? no? Ahh the Bastille??"
and people pointed me down lonely deserted cobblestone old paris streets and I was so scared ,
I see a woman, and I ask her for directions..and it was a TRANSVESTITE MAN girl thing with leopard spotted fur coat and huge boobs and I stuttered , my fear very very apparent!
HeShe was nice pointed and I ran my heart beating, I found Abesses and was like...WHEW!!!!!

http://www.thegardendiet.com/images/2004-2005/gallery.html
Paris was cold and rainy today I saw sleet
I just bought these gorgeous GREENS and FRUIT I have never ever seen before. GAUSELLES, Which are red berries with like grape seeds inside and PAUPIER, which is like Mache, the texture but long stems. I am going to make salad with my live Sauerkraut and Tahini, oil , CS salt and garlic. Doesn't that sound good?
I also saw a green I want to try tommorow labeled ROCKET..mm there are other greens, there are strange things just in street markets..all seasonal. Weird white large balls that look, well that dont look like anything I have seen..and dried up purple roots.
There are too many Vegatrian , Organic, Vegan restuarants to list here.
Fruit and juice bars everywhere have ORGANIC written on windows.
I found alot are closed for good. You see I relied on the internet which can be old..so I learned today to use the phone books when you visit.
I had a salad today minus the FOIE GRAS, Goat CHEESE, EGGS, CROUTONS and steamed veggies. It was in a classy cafe , beautiful, I forgot to upload the pics and I can't here, but there is enough photos here for today!!!
I also took photos that never uploaded, like one of dog poop for example!
Look some raw food in health market:

I bought
I just made as snack

is that eggs in gel? oh my

weird huh?
Fruit markets on every other block, ( hey by the way, one of the organic markets i went to today I went to right street but in wrong district, tommorow there is another!!)

Oh my god Croissants are everywhere and so are bakeries and everyone has a baguette in their arms walking around, all those stereotypes are true, oh and I saw maybe 7 French bulldogs, so they really are French!
Cheese
Look in Montmartre this is af amous square where Degas, Toulouse, Monet ...etc, etc you name it !
They all painted here for money!

I also saw a sign for a Dali exhibit going on there somewhere in a museum close by.
More of Montmartre, My part of town for sure
What a gorgeous view, it is enormous and so pretty and you can walk down the stairs an dthere is like a park area and there was a strange kind of harp player playing his tunes, french tunes!

train station and stairs, famous spot for photo of montmartre
Abbesses, next stop over from me, where I use the internet , in the right corner of this pic, for like 4 euros a pop. There are many kinds of keyboards, French, Spanish US
I went to Montmartre cemetary, there were avenues of trees and such sad staues, I was a little scared, by myself in a cemetary on a rainy day, but it was ok, there were those police walking around. Some tombs were open and you could see coffins!
Edgar Degas the guy who painted all those ballerina "rats"

alot of the cemetary is under a bridge
some sights I saw today:
I saw Avenue FOCH which is the richest street in paris to live in, Beautiful.
I also saw Champs Elysees, Elysian fields, where angels came down and mated with humans so the myth is, alot of high end stores.. and someone told me one side of the street is always in shade and the real estate on the sunny side is 4 times higher then the shady side because, and I did notice, all the people walked on the sunny side!

This is part of the Museum of Natural History I wanna go someday to see Dinosaur bones and stuff!!!
How to climb the eiffel, I was like NOOOOO way It really really is a MONSTER
..there is almost a psychic HUMMMMM when you are under it!
I saw french army guys in fatigues with machine guns and little berets!
It is so much bigger than pictures seen, you really have to be here to feel the monstrosity and psychic power of this thing, at first it was to be taken down after a few years, the french people hated it, said it was ugly

Look they cut the trees in the back like squares

Just walk around looking for this, looking for that, in love with Paris, I n Love it is so much bigger than I thought, and then it gets bigger still.
I went to Les Halles, and underground shopping place and I went to another.
Every store , nothing is cheap looking like the US, everything is the highest quality!!! I am so amazed..lace, velvet, oh my god the lingerie!
I see so many people dressed so well..and so stylish. Too bad their skin is dry and red from the cold.
I had a tea in a place that was so smoke filled I had to leave. Oh and you cannot get tea takeout at all.
I watched some news, French people are cool. They really are, Very hip. Sophistacted, well dressed..not commercial at all like chain stores..overall, this is such a nice place to be, even as a raw vegan.
Weekeneds restaurants are not open, alot of them, so I guess its the organic markets this weekend.
I am thinking of making a recipe. Living Light is always sending me email newsletters and I actually read them out of boredom ( free internet alot of cafes have them but you have to buy tea...but I can only upload in internet cafes) and they all have recipes in alot of the emails! Really fancy raw food too!
I wish I could live here in the summers, I am planning on that, that way I dont have to get student visa, even though I still want to take Sorbonne summer school course..I have not spoken a single word of French since I have been here..charades, sign language..I use, but I know French, I just do not want to sound stupid..I smile and peopel respond no matter what the language barrier is!

The raw gateaus! Og My I cannot even see straight.. wait til I try out these recipes at raw potlucks back home..
In the cafes when you ask for tea ( to keep warm ) you get a mug and teabag and a huge jug thing with boiling water enough for like 4 cups..it is cool. I asked for no caffeine, and the guy is like sure No caffeine tea , but I think i got caffeine tea I am so wired now. WOOOOOOOOOO
There is also no takeout and there is hardly any (none) garbage in the street garbages which are just green bags tied to iron holes
also things close at a decent time
and on weekends most places and restauarnts too are closed
Things are all great quality
it is like pure here
( except people say there is pollution here but are they talking about dog shit?)
I am so grateful I am so having fun
I am yours truly and forvere
This was on a store window by Saint Lazare
I saw this on a wall in paris
